Frequently asked questions.

  • The health of your eyes is what allows you to see clearly. Regular eye exams are the best means we have to detect and prevent permanent vision loss.

Further, some diseases develop slowly without causing pain or changes to your vision. So early detection of any problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options.

  • Yes. You may be sensitive to light, but you will be able to see at distance after you have been dilated. However, you likely will not be able to read after a dilation. So we recommend scheduling your appointment such that you could take the day off in case you need to be dilated.

  • For starters, we intentionally don’t sell any Luxottica products. We only sell eyewear made in Europe and Japan because we believe patients should have the option to purchase unrivaled frames that are ethically sourced. Every aspect of our frames reflect the care in construction and fair wages in production.

  • Of course! Every prescription is valid wherever glasses are sold. However, the visual experience from online eyewear is less than the standard we demand from eyewear — especially progressives. So If you buy online and are unhappy with the quality or appearance of your glasses, you’re always welcome to try our frames next time.

  • Definitely! We can even cut many lenses in our office. Some patients like to get new lenses in an old frame just to have a backup pair of glasses.

  • Insurance is confusing. In fact, many of our patients don’t know which one they have. But even if it’s not stated somewhere, most people in the US have either Eyemed or VSP.

So no need to worry! As long as we have advance notice of your appointment, we will check our databases with your name and date of birth to see if you have benefits.

  • Most standard examinations are performed within a matter of 30 minutes. But if you wear contacts or have a known ocular disease it could take up to an hour.
